This 115 year old Victorian house needs a lot of love! Her wall paper was falling down and peeling off. If I never have to peel wall paper again . . . . Demo days so far have consisted of peeling wall paper, scraping wall paper, cleaning up wall paper. Chad and Camryn pulled out the old kitchen counter tops. Someone had ‘updated’ these along the way but we have found beautiful tile to restore the original kitchen to its original state. We don’t plan to use modern counter top materials since that wouldn’t have been original to the house.
Kirk has been working on removing the overgrowth and some of the trees and brush that has gotten out of control. The survey crew came today to mark out the lines of the property. We accidentally cut down the neighbors trees that lined the edge of the property. Luckily the neighbor is awesome and the trees were obviously planted by the previous owners of our property. These are the things that they don’t show on HGTV 🙂
Here are some pictures of our progress:
We are preserving the hardwood. There is a hand painted design on the staircase and then again in the hall between the garden room and the kitchen. What do you think? Should it stay or go??
